Tritons fall to Indian Hills

The Iowa Central baseball team dropped a 10-6 decision to Indian Hills here Tuesday afternoon at Ed Barbour Field.

Nick Boys and Steven Calderon both had home runs for the Tritons (24-14 overall).

Calderon finished with two RBI and two runs scored, while Boys also scored twice. Junior Aracena and Spencer Franko each drove in a run.

“Indian Hills is one of the best offensive teams in the nation and we held them in-check four times through the order,” ICCC head coach Justin Meyer said. “That fifth time, we didn’t make the adjustments and they did.

“We gave up a couple big shots and they hurt us.”

After taking an early 5-1 lead, Iowa Central saw Indian Hills rally, tying it in the seventh at 6-all before plating four runs in the ninth. The Falcons (26-11) have won 12 of their last 14.

“We had eight walks and just three hits,” Meyer said. “We’ve got to be more consistent at the plate and go on the offensive instead of the defensive.”

The Tritons, who are 10-3 in their last 13, return to action Saturday when they travel to Boone to face DMACC.
