Fort Dodge sweeps East

DES MOINES – The Fort Dodge volleyball team swept Des Moines East here Thursday night.

Scores were 25-10, 25-15 and 25-10.

Beth Murman led the Dodgers (5-7 overall) with 13 kills, while Kacee Gollob added seven. Hannah Amhoff was 22-for-22 serving with five aces.

“We came out and took care of the ball from the beginning,” FDSH head coach Tonia Burrell said. “Our team is hungry. We wanted to come out and dominate and play like we are capable of.”

Josie Shirboun added 27 assists and Amhoff had 13 digs. Gollob and Amhoff each had four blocks.

“We played much more relaxed and were able to control the match after taking the lead,” Burrell said. “The leaders stepped up, but it was a total team effort all the way around.”

Fort Dodge returns to action Tuesday, opening CIC North play at home vs. Ames.

The Dodgers won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 17-25 and 15-12; the sophomore match, 25-14, 25-11; the freshman A, 25-15, 25-7; and the freshman B, 25-17, 25-11.
