Mustangs put up 66

NEWELL – Newell-Fonda cruised to a 66-26 victory over Clay Central-Everly on Friday night.

Reed Kruse led the Mustangs (5-1 overall, 4-0 district) with four touchdown passes.

Kruse scored in three different facets of the game. He returned an interception 33 yards for a score and had a five-yard touchdown run.

He threw touchdown passes to Nate Pederson (15 and 48 yards), Jesse Haack (18 yards) and Austin Gerdes (40 yards).

Kruse finished the night 6-for-9 for 157 yards and the four scores. Kruse also had 97 yards rushing on five carries.

Pederson caught three balls for 69 yards and Gerdes had two catches for 70 yards.

R.J. Rojas had rushing touchdowns of one and four yards.

Gerdes also returned a punt 59 yards to paydirt and Haack had a two yard rushing touchdown.

Defensively Haack had 14 tackles.
