Lynx repeat as champions
WEBSTER CITY – Seventh-ranked (Class 3A) Webster City earned a district championship with a 21-14 victory over ninth-ranked Boone on Friday.
This is the second consecutive district title for the Lynx (8-1 overall, 6-1 district) and Toreadors (7-2, 6-1).
The top-ranked squads went toe-to-toe the entire game before Webster City got the upper hand on a Robert Frederiksen four-yard touchdown run with 5:37 left to go in the contest.
Frederiksen finished his night with 39 carries and 116 yards rushing, while Payton Kannuan added 52 yards.
Drew Fielder threw a four-yard touchdown strike to Zane Carter. Fielder also had a two-yard scoring jaunt.
The Webster City defense held Boone to just 46 yards rushing on 20 carries.
