Sixth-ranked Iowa City High may have been the underdog in the program, but on the field Tuesday night, they were the powerhouse.

The Little Hawks (35-7 overall) pounded out 11 hits on their way to a 10-2 victory over third-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy (37-3).

City High will now face seventh-ranked Valley (30-10) in a Class 5A semifinal tonight. Action will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Iowa Central Field.

Carey Koenig led the Little Hawks at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBI.

Ella Cook had two hits and two RBI, and Brooke Bormann drove in two runs for the Little Hawks.

Ayana Lindsey earned the win, giving up five hits and striking out eight Cougar batters.

Addie Parker and Kaylin Kinney drove in runs for CR Kennedy.

The Cougars will now face Fort Dodge in a consolation game at 3 p.m. on Dodger Wednesday.
