Van Diest Family Health Clinic

Van Diest takes over fort dodge west side clinic

A family practice clinic on the west side of Fort Dodge has a new affiliation and a new name.

The former MercyOne Fort Dodge Family Medicine is now Van Diest Family Health Clinic Fort Dodge.

The facility at 119 Ave. O West is itself fairly new, having opened in 2017.

It debuted as part of the network of Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City is also part of that system. On July 1, 2020, the clinic became affiliated with Van Diest.

“Unifying practices strengthens both organizations and supports our mission while ensuring access to high quality health care remains a priority for area residents for years to come,” said Lisa Ridge, the chief executive officer of Van Diest Medical Center.

“We have a number of patients living in Fort Dodge and surrounding areas who utilize our services and to merge the clinic with our hospital allows for future sustainability to continue to serve our communities well into the future,” she added.

The clinic is led by Dr. John Birkett and Dr. Alan Nguyen, two physicians who have been practicing in Fort Dodge for decades.

The 4,500-square-foot clinic has eight exam rooms, an osteopathic manipulative treatment room, a procedure room and a lab. About 10 people work there.
