The fourth-ranked St. Edmond softball team began their postseason trek here on Wednesday, but a heavy burst of rain left the game suspended for a night.
With two full innings in the book, a 10-minute downpour forced the suspension of the contest at Rogers Park. The Gaels (28-5 overall), who were the home squad, were leading Panorama 2-0 at the time.
The Class 2A regional quarterfinal will resume Thursday on Diamond 2. The Gaels have no outs and the bases loaded, after Maggie Harvey and Amanda Lansman walked and Anna Yung picked up a single for her second hit. Brigid Hanley is at the plate for the Gaels.
