An audit of the Fort Dodge city government for the 2012-2013 fiscal year has been completed by Cornwell, Frideres, Maher & Associates PLC, of Fort Dodge.
The auditors reported that the city's income during that fiscal year was $42,943,548. That was a 9.4 percent increase from the previous fiscal year.
The revenues included $15,916,152 from charges for services; $13,028,888 from property taxes; $4,893,097 from other general receipts; $3,910,308 from the local option sales tax; $2,980,535 from operating grants, contributions and restricted interest; $1,123,837 in tax increment financing collections; $871,966 from capital grants, contributions and restricted interest; and $218,765 from unrestricted interest on investments.
According to the auditors, expenses for the fiscal year totaled $33,723,584, which was a 1.6 percent decrease from the previous year.
The auditors reported that the expenses included $12,171,864 for business type activities; $7,842,462 for public safety; $5,275,978 for public works; and $4,310,236 for culture and recreation.
