A Yuletide celebration and luminaria display will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bickford Assisted Living, 1536 20th Ave. N.

There will be a dessert buffet provided by Bickford staff and friends. Special performances by Shelly's School of Music and the St. Edmond Chamber Choir. There will be a special appearance by Old St. Nick.

The Elves for the Elderly program will also be taking donations such as new lap blankets, shower gel and lotions, large print crossword puzzle and game books, and slipper socks. They will be delivered to homebound elderly in Fort Dodge at Christmas through Meals on Wheels.

"It's nice because it's not an expensive charity to donate to, because you can go to the dollar store," said Cheryl Sherry of Bickford.

"It goes out to someone, as a homebound elderly person, they don't get to have a lot of joy in their lives; they don't have a lot of people who come and visit them," she added. "It's just a way of helping them know the community is thinking of them."

For more information, call Bickford at 573-3300.
