Two teams from the Fort Dodge Senior High culinary arts department recently competed in the culinary competition at the Iowa Central Community College Food and Beverage Expo.
The teams finished in first and fourth places out of six teams from Alburnett, FDSH, Greene County and Gilbert. "I am extremely proud of both these teams," said Jessie Palmer, FDSH hospitality/culinary arts early bird instructor for ICCC. "It was amazing as an instructor to watch the students put all the technical skills and food knowledge they have acquired from culinary courses to work. They did a great job."
Members of the first-place team are: Maci Knutson, Ashley Altman, Rachel Herrington and Abee Armstrong. Members of the fourth-place team are: Colton Austin, Johnny Degen, Tim Gailey and Logan Benson. With their finishes, the students won a total of $1,300 in Iowa Central scholarships.
