SAYDEL - The third-ranked (Class 4A) Fort Dodge baseball team recorded a pair of convincing victories in the Brent Prange Classic on Saturday.
After downing Davenport West by an 11-1 final, the Dodgers (19-8 overall) blanked Norwalk in a 9-0 decision.
Austin Halligan and JC Hatcher each delivered three hits in the opener. Hatcher also drove in four, while Halligan scored three times.
Cory Alexander, Tommy Halligan, Devon Harms and Parker Van Zyl all added two hits.
Going the distance on the mound was Andrew Stover (3-1), who scattered nine hits and one earned run. He walked none and fanned five.
"We had trouble in both games in the early innings of coming through with runners in scoring position, which is something we need to get better at," said FDSH head coach Blake Utley. "As the games went on, though, we scored in bunches. Once one person breaks the ice, we can kind of keep it going."
