NEW Co-op donates to Lord’s Cupboard

NEW Cooperative, Inc. encouraged employees to participate in the 2013 Live Healthy Iowa weight loss program. NEW Cooperative Foundation pledged to donate $5 per pound that employees lost during this 10-week period to area food pantries. The foundation also secured matching funds from the Land O’Lakes Foundation, bringing the total pledge to $10 per pound lost. Over the course of the 10 week Live Healthy Iowa program, 89 employees lost 622 pounds. The Lord’s Cupboard was one of five food pantries chosen to receive a portion of NEW Cooperative’s donation. They received a total of $1,244. Suzanne Schwendemann, Director of The Lord’s Cupboard was presented the donation from a group of Fort Dodge NEW Cooperative employees who participated in the 2013 Live Healthy Iowa weight loss challenge.
