Q:What year did your business start?


Q:What motivated the company's founders to start the business?

A: Owner Ross Nemitz began working for an appliance company in his hometown of Denison at age 14 and worked there throughout high school. He hoped to own his own business one day and had the chance in Fort Dodge.

Q: How many full- and

part-time employees do you have?

A: We have six full-time employees and one part-time employee.

Q:What is Ross' Appliance Center's niche?

A: Our technicians and service specialists are well versed in the products we carry from Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag and Amana. Customers don't have to call an 800 number and hope for the best. We're also in a national buying group, which allows us to offer competitive prices. In addition, we look for ways to make the big-box stores' weaknesses our strengths. The key to success is to serve our customers and gain repeat business. We want to grow. If you're not going forward, you're falling back.

Q:What do you like about being located in downtown Fort Dodge?

A: There's something comfortable about downtown Fort Dodge. I think people would be surprised by how much traffic there is downtown and how many people pass through this area.
