The water level in the Des Moines River in Fort Dodge continued to drop Friday and the threat of serious flooding eased.

The water level at the river gauge was at 11 feet Friday, according to Tony Jorgensen, the Webster County emergency management coordinator. The water level had risen to 11.9 feet on Tuesday.

''We are predicted to fall back below flood stage by 9 a.m. Sunday,'' he said.

Flood stage is considered to be 10.5 feet.

Jorgensen said there was very little damage to infrastructure from high water. McGuire Bend Road and South River Road near the Fort Dodge wastewater treatment plant were among the handful of roads covered by water.
