Gaels, Indians tie for 2nd in WC

WEBSTER CITY - The Iowa Falls-Alden boys track team used their speed to claim the Lynx Invitational title Tuesday night.

The Cadets scored 123 points, out-distancing themselves from runners-up St. Edmond and Pocahontas Area, which had 85 points each.

Webster City was fourth, followed by Clear Lake, Humboldt, Eagle Grove and Northeast Hamilton.

The Gaels, running for a second consecutive night, had titles from Seth Reel in the 3200 and the shuttle hurdle relay of Cory Angstrom, Tristan Sitzmann, Matthew Bocken and Hank Lentsch.

Reel had a time of 10:33.61, while the relay clocked home a showing of 1:02.97.

Angstrom (400-meter dash, 53.57) and Lentsch (110 hurdles, 15.51; high jump, 6-4) all added seconds. Angstrom (200), Casey McEvoy (3200) and Bocken (110 hurdles) each placed third in their respective events.

"I thought we did well considering we were running on back-to-back nights," SEHS?head coach Bill Kibby said. "We just didn't quite have enough (points-wise)?at the end of the meet.

"Our guys are improving their times, even in these conditions. We just didn't have quite enough depth (to catch IF-A)."

Pocahontas Area was led by a handful of runner-up finishes, including Caleb Ricke in the 1600, the distance medley relay, the shuttle hurdle relay and Logan Jepson in the discus.

Humboldt's Jacob Miller won the 1600 and teammate Bryan Larson claimed the discus, while Webster City's Cal Zahn won the high jump on number of misses over Lentsch. The Lynx also claimed the 4x400, 4x800 and distance medley relays.

Brennon Cameron was the runner-up in the 400 hurdles for Eagle Grove.

The Gaels will be at the South Hamilton Relays on Friday.
