To the editor:
We were returning from San Jose, Calif., on April 1. We had landed in Minneapolis and were anticipating a Great Lakes flight from Minneapolis to Fort Dodge at 10:30 p.m. that evening. Unfortunately, on April 1, the Great Lakes Airlines discontinued the late night flight from Minneapolis to Fort Dodge; and we discovered that we would only be able to fly as far as Mason City. We found ourselves in a predicament of how to get from Mason City to the Fort Dodge airport to reach our car.
To make a long story short, the Great Lakes Airline folks provided great service recovery efforts when they realized how this would impact us. Because of their efforts, a flight plan was created to fly the three of us to Fort Dodge before the plane returned to Mason City.
In order for this to happen, Rhonda Chambers at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport approved to have one of her employees re-open the airport so that we could land. We were greeted by a smiling and helpful Staci Jones upon our arrival. Staci got out of bed late at night to come and serve us! We want to publicly thank her for her efforts.
We wish to encourage area residents to utilize Great Lakes Airlines and the Fort Dodge Regional Airport to keep this valuable service available in our area. They have great customer service.
