Nickell — 90 years old

EAGLE GROVE - Lewis Nickell, of Eagle Grove, will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 509 N. Lincoln, Eagle Grove, IA 50533. Cards may be sent to him at the same address.

His family includes wife Janice; Becky and Allen Porter, Bozeman, Mont.; Vicky and Stephen Adams, Goldfield; Elaine and Gene VanGrevenhof, and Lynnette Nickell, all of Fort Dodge; Cheryl and Richard Jacobsen, of Muscatine. He has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Nickell was born April 8, 1923, in Lineville and grew up on a farm. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a farmhand in the Eagle Grove area and retired from Boone Valley Co-op/Farmland after 33 years. Nickell was Sunday school superintendent of the Open Bible Church, in Eagle Grove, and served as a board member for many years. He married Janice Peterson in 1951.
