Jolene Crawford remained in critical condition Sunday in a Des Moines hospital, according to Iowa Health spokesperson Amy Varcoe, after Crawford was allegedly assaulted Saturday morning.
Police arrested Larry Darnell Crawford, 43, and charged him with attempted murder, after Jolene Crawford was found unconscious at around 6:30 a.m. in her bedroom at 339 Loomis Ave., according to the Fort Dodge Police department. She had suffered blunt force trauma to her head, and was flown by medical helicopter to a Des Moines hospital where she underwent surgery.
Jolene Crawford and Larry Crawford were involved in a relationship, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody, but he did not say if they were married.
Larry Crawford is $1 million cash bond.
Carmody said in addition to his department, the incident is being investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the DCI Crime Lab and the Webster County attorney's office.
