WAVERLY - The Fort Dodge wrestling team will take a step out of traditional tournament style and travel to the Waverly-Shell Rock dual tournament today.
The Dodgers will open tournament action today at 10 a.m. against Waterloo West. They'll face Des Moines East at 11:15 a.m. and Waukee at 12:30 p.m. They'll finish the tournament with the host Go-Hawks at 2 p.m. Mason City will also be in attendance.
Fort Dodge is coming off a disappointing home triangular against Mason City and Ankeny, were they lost twice, but head coach Bobby Thompson is hoping for a turnaround.
"I hope we can go out and fight harder than we did (on Thursday),'' Thompson said. "We have to get more confidence.
"We had a good practice (Friday) and hope that carries over.''
Thompson's a big fan of the traditional Saturday tournament format, but likes the fact that everyone is guaranteed four matches.
