STRATFORD - The Boone Forks Wildlife Management Area in Webster County will expand by 120 acres as a result of a land purchase recently approved by the Iowa Natural Resource Commission.
The land was purchased from the Donald Kopp family for $440,000, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.
The Boone Forks Wildlife Management Area is three miles northwest of Stratford in the area of the Des Moines River. The newly acquired land is on the east side of the existing state property. It will be managed for outdoor recreation and hunting.
The wildlife management area also includes other land in Hamilton and Webster counties.
