The LESS is MORE wellness series continues at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven, 420 Kenyon Road, with the focus shifting to physical wellness.
This free, educational series is intended to explore each of the six dimensions of health in depth and to help seniors explore and embrace healthy aging. The programs are open to the public with no reservations required.
Physical wellness is one of the six dimensions of health; the others being emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social and vocational. The LESS is MORE series is intended to explore each dimension in depth and to help people understand what healthy aging encompasses.
Megan Ridgely, wellness coordinator at Friendship Haven will feature a program on exercise and arthritis. The pain, swelling and stiffness caused by arthritis can be alleviated with regular physical activity.
The series is a cooperative endeavor between Elderbridge Agency on Aging, Foster Grandparent Program, Friendship Haven, Iowa Central Community College, Iowa State University Extension, and Trinity Healthy Living - Health Partners at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Any program in the series may be cancelled due to inclement weather. If the schools are closed, or close early due to the weather, the program will be cancelled and rescheduled.
