Messenger News

For generations The Messenger has provided a comprehensive daily report of happenings in north central Iowa.

Adding an Apple OS application to ways reader can get their news is the latest media the newspaper is using to reach readers when and where they want their news.

The App joins the printed newspaper and as ways readers can get their news. All three are unique products, providing both news and special features that are unique to the media.

The popularity of the Apple iPhone and iPad pushed The Messenger to develop the app for them first. The combined traffic that the newspaper's website gets from the two devices is far more than from all other mobile devices combined.

All mobile users, including those on Apple devices still will be able to access The Messenger site using a web browser. Content to the main site, the mobile site, located at, and to the new app is updated daily.

Visiting The Messenger website with any device running the Apple OS system will trigger a screen urging readers to download the app. Visitors also can search for "The Messenger" in the app store.

In addition, they can visit and be redirected to the correct site.

With the app, readers can read stories, write comments, search and take polls.

"We are please to extend the reach of our award-winning and trusted newspaper to our readers who have long depended on us to let them know what is happening in their community, said Publisher Larry D. Bushman. "The addition of the iPhone app gives us yet another way to serve our readers."
