Support Megan Srinivas

To the Editor:

I wholeheartedly support Megan Srinivas for Iowa House to represent those of us in the 9th District. I had the privilege of having Megan as a student for eight years while she attended Fort Dodge Middle and High Schools. Even at that young age, Megan represented our schools on academic and athletic teams, and represented our town on a state-appointed youth boards. She has always pursued ways to help people and is highly qualified to address the concerns of her constituents.

When Megan left Fort Dodge, she went on to prestigious universities, ultimately becoming a medical doctor. She could have chosen any large city location in which to practice, but she knew that Iowa is struggling with quality, affordable health care. Her dedication to promoting healthy families and communities is what brought her back home to the Community Health Center in Fort Dodge. There is no one better to share patient experiences and concerns with Iowa’s Legislature.

Megan has deep Fort Dodge roots. Her friends are not in the 1% of wage earners – they are farmers and business people who need support to sustain a decent standard of living. Some are hourly workers who, she feels, deserve to make a living wage in return for their labor. She deeply believes that, for Iowa to be successful, its families need to experience success.

Megan grew up in the Fort Dodge Public School system, and she values quality education for all. She is deeply troubled by the recent legislative efforts that limit education funding, and will strengthen our education system without raising taxes.

A thoughtful listener, a person who represents local concerns, and a person capable of working through tough issues, Megan Srinivas will carry on the legacy of Helen Miller and help the citizens of Webster County. Please join me is voting for Megan Srinivas–she is one of our own.
