To the editor:

One of the top priorities and time consuming challenges of the Iowa Legislature is to enact a balanced budget as mandated by our State Constitution. The health and human services aspect of the budget is very complex as the Federal Government contributes approximately 2/3 of the funds needed for that portion of the budget and the State of Iowa needs to coordinate our program within the federal parameters to retain that funding. By virtue of his personal and professional business experience in financial planning and administration , Senator Kraayenbrink brings a professional and unique perspective with him in performing his duties as our State Senator. This not only benefits our district, but the entire State of Iowa.

While it is easy for someone running for office to simply promise spending more tax dollars for certain “pet projects”, responsible governing requires someone who understands the complexities of effectuating a compassionate, caring and reasonable response to those needs. Senator Kraayenbrink has demonstrated with his Senate votes that he is someone who we can trust with that responsibility.
