To the editor:

Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight has announced its 2017 spring Honor Flight, May 6, 2017. This will be Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight No≥ 14, and it will leave Fort Dodge Regional Airport at 6:20 a.m. on May 6.

There will be 12 World War II veterans, 33 Korean War veterans, and 102 Vietnam War veterans on this flight. The eligible veterans were notified by mail approximately two weeks ago. Those veterans who have sent in their applications and were not chosen for this flight need not reapply as their applications are kept on file for future flights.

This Honor Flight as of those in the past will fly to Dulles International Airport in Virginia and will travel by motor coach to the Korean, Vietnam, and Lincoln Memorials. Following a visit at those memorials the veterans will have a brief tour of Washington, D.C., followed by a visit to the World War II Memorial. They will then be escorted to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to witness the Changing of the Guard. Following a drive-by of the Pentagon and the Air Force Memorial, the group will visit the Iwo Jima Monument.

After a full day of patriotic moments, the group will arrive back home in Fort Dodge around 10:40 p.m..

An informational meeting will be held at the Webster County Agricultural Center on April 26, starting at 4 p.m. The veterans going on the flight and their guests will be attending.
