To the editor:

There are so many people to thank for the honor to visit Washington and our monuments! Ron Newsum had a vision and he surrounded himself with a great group of like-minded people. Fort Dodge should be very proud to have hosted 13 honor flights from their airport. I cannot imagine the time it must take to organize an 18-hour day for all veterans. This would not happen without generous donations from so many people and businesses. There are still many veterans that deserve this trip, and I hope they are able to go.

The reception upon landing at Dulles Airport in D.C. was awesome. There were so many people to greet us just to thank us for our service. And then the reception back in Fort Dodge brought many tears as we were almost two hours late and still a huge flag waving crowd. Many of us Vietnam veterans now feel like we have been welcomed home. Thank you, thank you! May God bless our military and our country.
