County fair is a success

To the editor:

The Webster County Fair Board would like to thank everyone that helped with the 2016 Webster County Fair. Volunteers are what make this fair possible.

We appreciate PICA’s work this year. Thanks to 4-H/FFA kids/families, leaders, superintendents, Linda Cline, the Extension staff and livestock fair secretary Jo Seltz. Hours of work on and off the grounds help to improve our fairgrounds.

Thanks to groundskeeper Ron Webb. His countless hours of work and dedication make a difference. We couldn’t do it without you.

Thanks to the volunteers who organized and ran the open shows in photography, baking, quilt, Bill Riley Show and Little Miss Contest.

We appreciate The Messenger and Consumer News coverage. Many thanks to the Dayton Leader, Fort Dodge Press, Twist & Shout, Fort Dodge Convention and Visitors Bureau, Farm Bureau and the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance for their online fair coverage. Thanks for your support of the fair.

The Des Moines River Valley Antique Tractor Club is a wonderful addition to the fair. Fair-goers young and old enjoy and learn so much at your site. Thank you for your kids’ rides, food, shows and knowledge. We are happy to have you as a part of the Webster County Fair.

The Fair Board would like to thank the county supervisors for their support, as well as, all of the families and businesses that made a monetary donation or donated their time, labor or equipment; it is what makes this fair possible. Our sponsors list is on our website.

Farm Bureau donated the wonderful new shelter to the grounds, where they sponsored the Sweet Corn Feed, Watermelon Feed and Pedal Pull. They also sponsored the BBQ Cook-off along with Fort Dodge Chili Society.

Thanks to Stone Creek Landscaping for donating rock and plants at the new shelter.

Thanks to everyone who spent hours working on the race schedule, track and running the events. Without volunteer work and the track helpers, these events would not happen.

We thank the families and businesses that attended the livestock and woodcarving auction, supporting the youth and Fair Board. Thanks to all who bought Hog Raffle tickets especially winners Chris Weiland and Marvin Ritts.

Last but not least, thanks to our families/friends who also volunteered to make events run smoothly.

See you at the 2017 Webster County Fair
