A letter of thanks

To the editor:

This is regarding a house fire at 2055 220th St, Fort Dodge, that happened June 22.

We want to take a moment now that things have settled down for us and to say a huge thank you to all that stepped up and helped us in our time of need.

To the volunteer firefighters of Moorland, Barnum and to Fort Dodge firefighters for their expertise in trying to save our home. You have opened our eyes to the extra steps you take to help people. The day of the fire was very hot and what you went through is amazing. One doesn’t think about all the gear you wear to protect yourself, how hot you can get. To the firemen that went in the home and pulled as much as you could to save our personal property – thank you.

To our neighbors who stepped in and help carried items next door for storage and provided water to the firefighters. Janette, who thought she wasn’t doing much but yet opened her home to us and the use of her garage for us to temporary store items. My pastor and family members who stopped by after my aunt’s funeral and stayed with us helped morally and physically. It was not long after we arrived at the house that we had to leave for a doctor appointment that we did not want to miss as Tom is also battling brain cancer and it was the first appointment with a new oncologist. Thank you to our co-workers who thought of setting up a Go Fund Me account, we have received much help through this and Fort Dodge Family Credit Union.

Thank you to everyone, we feel blessed with our many friends. Forgive us if we forgot to mention someone who reached out and helped us as well, it was a very overwhelming event that we hope very few experience. Thank you.
