To the editor:
I feel such joy when I drive by our new middle school and see the innovative use of prairie grass in landscaping. It brings back a bit of history of the prairies of Iowa. It gives homes and protection to wildlife. It is a way of saving money that would otherwise be spent on mowing and maintaining a grass field. It has the possibility and capability of being used as an outdoor classroom. Best of all it gives all of us a chance to enjoy the beauty of wild flowers and grasses. Thank you to the Fort Dodge School District for thinking outside the box in such a unique way of landscaping.
