It’s time to honor a local leader

Growth Alliance seeks nominations for Catalyst Award

Do you know anyone who has worked hard, perhaps out of the public view, to make Fort Dodge and Webster County a better place to live, work and play?

If so, a unique opportunity to honor them is at hand.

The Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance is seeking nominees for its Catalyst Award.

Nominees should meet these basic criteria:

• Have a long history of community service, pride and spirit

• Be an active and visible leader in community and economic development

• Be a member of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance or work for a business that is a member

Nominations are due by noon Feb. 18. Nomination packets can be found at www.greaterfortdodge.com.

All nominations will be reviewed by a committee. The winner of the 2022 Catalyst Award will be announced at the Growth Alliance’s annual dinner on March 3 at Fort Frenzy.

Fort Dodge City Councilman Terry Moehnke was the most recent recipient of the award. Other recent winners include Bob Singer, former Webster County supervisor and senior vice president of the U.S. 20 Corridor Association; John Taets, president of Northwest Bank; and Bruce Shimkat, of Shimkat Motor Co.

We encourage everybody to think carefully about anyone they know who meets the basic qualifications and would be a good candidate for the Catalyst Award. There are a lot of people out there who are deeply committed to the betterment of the community, so it actually shouldn’t be hard to come up with some nominees.

We look forward to congratulating the eventual winner.
