Let’s support Toys for Tots

Fareway and Marine Corps Reserve partner to help young folks

Some children in families facing difficult economic situations won’t have a very festive Christmas unless charitable giving puts some toys under the tree to make their holiday brighter. That’s why Fareway stores and the Marine Corps Reserve partner in the Toys for Tots effort to make sure that such a sad circumstance does not materialize.

Fareway stores are conducting a round-up at the register, where customers can round-up to the next whole dollar on their grocery purchase.

In addition, stores will be collectiing new, unwrapped toys at all 124 locations now through Dec. 24.

”We are proud to continue the tradition of Toys for Tots in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps,” said Fareway President and CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. ”Our customers always go above and beyond to donate both unwrapped toys and monetary proceeds, and their help this holiday season will provide during what has been a difficult year for many children and families.”

The Messenger applauds this superb effort. Thanks to Fareway and the Marine Corps Reserve, many area youngsters will have a more joyous Christmas than would have been likely if this important charitable project did not exist. We urge our readers to help make this outstanding project a tremendous success once again this year.
