JODY MARIE HALVERSON

Jody Marie (Henshaw) Halverson, 63, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2021, surrounded by her beloved family.

Jody was born January 5, 1958, in Columbus, Wisconsin. She later moved with her family to Okemos, Michigan, then Lincoln, Nebraska, before settling permanently in Fort Dodge. Jody received a BA in Special Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Masters of Education from Viterbo University. Jody taught special education in Keokuk Public Schools for two years and Fort Dodge Public Schools for 38 years and was passionately involved with the Special Olympics. Jody was known as a care giver to all as she never hesitated to help someone in need, whether as a family member, friend, student, neighbor or co-worker. Jody loved walking with her Boxers and friends, cheering the Chicago Bears, golfing, traveling — especially with or to visit family, and spending time with friends.

Jody is survived by Bernie, her husband of 25 years, daughters Trisha (Tom) Boubin, Karri (Derek) Seaman, and Stacy (Bryan) Newman, brothers Donn (Abby) Henshaw and Drew Henshaw, sister Paula (Paul) Moyer and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Mary Henshaw of Fort Dodge.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held following the memorial service at Rides Banquet Center.
