Curt Swedlund was born June 16, 1948 to Clifford and Ruby (Campbell) Swedlund in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The family established their home in Fort Dodge. Curt attended schools in Fort Dodge before graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High. Following high school he attended and graduated from Morningside College. Shortly there-after he began a lengthy career with CENTEL (later Frontier) phone company.

On September 15th, 1972 Curt was united in marriage to Cheryl Wymer. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. In April of 1975 Cheryl was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Curt was her rock, supporter, and care giver every day until her passing at Christmas 2016. Curt enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles and anything Christmas, especially working on Christmas lights. In December of 2019, keeping a promise made to Cheryl, he attended two “Holiday at Pops” concerts at Symphony Hall in Boston with the Boston Pops. The major highlights of this trip were throwing tea into the harbor, exploring the USS Constitution and twice being acknowledged by Santa Claus (at the Concerts) for his beard.

Those thankful for Curt’s life include son, Jason Swedlund; Sadie, his and Cheryl’s puppy, faithful and always present companion; nephew, Wade (Theresa) Presley; niece, Megan Presley; brothers Mark (Deb) Swedlund & Rick (Jacqueline) Swedlund; sister, Nancy Swedlund; and a special friend to both he and Cheryl, Veronica Averill. Curt was preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Cheryl, parents Clifford and Ruby Swedlund, niece Alison Keaupuni & an infant sister.

The family would like to especially thank all of Curt’s doctors and caregivers, for their professionalism, dedication, and compassion throughout the course of the many challenges he has faced. He is now with Cheryl again in the house of the Father.
