MARY M. COPPINGER

CLARE — Mary M. Coppinger, 75, of Clare, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Humboldt Care Center North after a valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

A private family mass will be 1:30 PM Saturday at Holy Trinity Church. The service will be livestreamed via the Laufersweiler Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery.

Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Coppinger of Clare; children, John D. (Neva) Coppinger of Farnhamville, Brian (Alyssa) Coppinger of Waxahachie, TX, Brenda (Curt) Moye of Phoenix, AZ, and Nicole (Dan) Trulson of Britt; 20 grandchildren with the 21st due in 2021; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Scott of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Ruth (Paterson) Scott; step dad, Richard Tomlinson; son, Steven Coppinger; infant daughter, Janet Coppinger; brother Richard Tomlinson; and grandson, James Lawson.

Mary Margaret Scott was born December 1, 1944, in Fort Dodge. She attended schools in the area. In 7th grade she won the Betty Crocker award for baking. On September 22, 1962, she was united in marriage to John R. Coppinger at Corpus Christi Church and the couple made their home on a farm in between Barnum and Clare. Mary helped John farm and raised their children. She could often be found waving at anyone stopping by in her “Happy Window” at the farm. Saturday mornings were spent listening to AM radio and cleaning the house. She also worked at Tommy’s Town Tap and Buckaroo’s in Barnum and also at The Vault in Duncombe. Mary enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with friends but above all she adored her grandchildren whom will miss her to the moon and back. She was a member of Saint Joseph’s in Barnum.

Memorials may be left to family discretion.
