MARIE E. BARGSTEN

Marie E. Bargsten, 88, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Simpson Health Center.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dan Kahl officiating. Interment will follow in Deer Creek Township Cemetery. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or the Friendship Haven Foundation.

Marie is survived by her children, Gayle Rice, Laura (Steve) Pals, Robert Cruse and Russel (Sheryle) Cruse; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; stepchildren, Werner, Sheila, Marilyn, Marian and Joey; 11 step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Pat Winkler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Norman Cruse and Werner Bargsten, a brother Ted Winkler and stepdaughter Nettie.

Marie Ellen Winkler, the daughter of Hermann and Orrill (Mortimer) Winkler, was born June 16, 1932, in Spring Hill, Kansas. She graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1950, and received her B.A. degree from Kansas State University. Marie was united in marriage to Norman Cruse. She taught for a short time and later was a homemaker. Marie was employed with First State Bank and retired from the Fort Dodge branch where she was a personal banker. On August 4, 1985, she was united in marriage to Werner Bargsten at Grace Lutheran Church.

Marie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed music of all genres, a good book, was a hospice volunteer for many years and a member of the Fort Dodge Choral Society.
