ERIC PETERSON

AMES — Eric Scott Peterson, 60, of Ames, recently passed away at his home. Eric brought joy and happiness to family and friends with his humorous stories of everyday life. Eric followed the Vikings, Twins and Cyclones (as long as they were winning) and was known to bet on the ponies. He especially loved time with his family.

Eric Peterson was born August 27, 1959, to Cecil and Mary Peterson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Eric graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1978, he went on to earn an Associate of Arts Degree as an electrician from Western Iowa Technical School in Sheldon, Iowa. Eric was united in marriage to Nancy Cleveland on June 4, 1988, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa.

Eric interned and worked at Iowa State University and then the City of Ames Power Plant as an electrician and controls technician.

Eric is survived by his brothers Gary Peterson (Teresa) Atlanta, Georgia, Conrad Peterson (Carmen) Fort Dodge, Iowa, Aaron Peterson, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Brian Peterson (Julie) Iowa City, Iowa, sisters Cecile Kjos (Dan) Ypsilanti, Michigan, Janet Tepfer (Steve), Atlanta, Georgia, Joy Jenkins (Jerry) Las Vegas, Nevada, Linda Stuber (Jim), Des Moines, Iowa, Theresa Giesing (Gene), St. Louis, Missouri, 14 nieces, 8 nephews, cousins, and Aunt Carol Kueny. Also mother-in-law Darlene Cleveland, sister-in-law Kari Kretzinger (Erich), brother-in-law Ole Cleveland (Kristin), 4 nephews and 1 niece.

Eric is preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his mother Mary, his father Cecil, nephews Eric Shipman and Chad Peterson, sister-in-law Jeannine Peterson, father-in-law Sherman Cleveland, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be scheduled in the near future due to the coronavirus pandemic.
