DUANE EVERETT FERGUSON SR.
OTHO — Duane Everett Ferguson Sr., 89, of Otho passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Stratford Specialty Care in Stratford, IA. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Gunderson’s. Burial will take place at North Lawn Cemetery.
Duane Ferguson Sr., the son of Everett and Marian Ferguson, was born on December 24, 1930 in Otho, IA. He graduated high school in 1948. Duane joined the Army in November of 1949 and served for three years until being honorably discharged in 1953. Duane was united in marriage to Shirley Spencer on September 5th, 1953 in Fort Dodge, IA. He worked for Georgia Pacific for 41 years. Duane was very passionate about his support for the Hawkeyes.
Duane is survived by his wife, Shirley Ferguson; son, Duane Ferguson Jr.; daughter, Sheila (Mick) Evans; grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Julie, Nathan, and Bud; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Dwight Ferguson; several nieces and nephews; and numerous foster children.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Marian; and his sister, Janice.
Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
