ALICE BARBER

Alice Barber, 89, of Houston, TX, formerly of Fort Dodge, was diagnosed with cancer in May of this year and passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at home in Houston.

A Celebration Of Life will be held on 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Alice Marie Faul was born February 16, 1930, in Perry, IA, to William and Ella Faul. After her parents’ divorce she moved to the family farm near Knoke, IA. She went to country school in the Pomeroy area.

Alice met Harry Barber Jr. and married on September 16, 1947. They lived in Chicago for a brief time before making their home in Fort Dodge. They owed Tom’s Lunch for a short time. She also worked at Globe Union and for the Fort Dodge School District before retiring in 1995. Alice loved to go to auctions, dancing, quilting, dining out and playing cards.

She has 2 sons, Nicholas Joel Barber of Independence, MO. and William John Barber (Elizabeth Utterback) of Houston TX. She has 4 grandchildren Mark Steinberg (Caroline), Nicki Jo Frazen (Bob), Brittany Barber (Tony Hoover) and Brandon Barber (Morgan Lundberg). And 3 great grandchildren Tristan Barber, Brycen Franzen and Jaxson Hoover. Also she is survived by a brother Darvin Nehman (Carol) and sister Danita Cataldo. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Harry Barber, Jr (2000), daughter Charlie Leah Steinberg (2001) her parents, brother Duane Nehman and a sister Hila Eaton.
