DARLENE A. MCCURDY

Darlene A. McCurdy, 87, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019.

Funeral services will be held on Thurs­day, Oct­ober 24th at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 2:00 PM at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 3:45 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children Kathleen (Dan) Bird of Omaha, NE, Michael (Denise) McCurdy of Wixon, MI, Patricia (Rod) Dillard of Dickens, IA, Teresa (Jeff) Paulsen of Stockton, IA and Mark (Sheryl) McCurdy of Cambridge, NE, 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and her sister Hazel Lentsch of Fort Dodge, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley McCurdy, father Anton Volkmer, mother Emma (Gembler) Volkmer Lentsch, brothers Charles, Vernon, Donald, Eugene Volkmer, sisters Velma Block, Bernice Julch, Grace Kotalik, and Lorraine Yates.

Darlene Ann Volkmer was born on December 16, 1931 in Otho, IA. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Otho High School in 1949. In 1952, Darlene graduated from St. Joseph Hospital of Nursing as an RN. On January 15, 1953 she was united in marriage to Stanley McCurdy at Corpus Christi Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. For 43 years Darlene worked as a RN in OB Department until retiring in 1994 from Trinity Regional Hospital. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering for many various church and community activities. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Catholic Daughter of America.

Memorials may be left to Unitypoint Hospice or to the discretion of the family.
