WANDA OLESON

Wanda Oleson, 94, of Denton, TX, formerly of Fort Dodge, IA, died September 12, 2019.

The fun­eral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednes­day Sep­tember 18, 2019 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Wanda M. Pankey was born September 7, 1925. She attended school in Gowrie. On January 18, 1953 she was united in marriage to Donald B. Oleson. The couple lived in Fort Dodge and Wanda worked for the Fort Dodge School District in food service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed wood carving and crafts and was a member of the Fort Dodge Dragoon Wood Carvers. The couple enjoyed traveling and in retirement spent their winters in South Texas and in the summer months fishing in Northern Minnesota for over 30 years.

Wanda was preceded in death by Donald, her husband of 61 years, in 2014; three grandchildren; her parents, Arthur “Elmer” and Mille (Rice) Pankey; and her sisters Lois Pankey and Miriam Swanson.

Survivors include her daughters Barbara (Don) Sternquist of Roscoe, IL, Pati (Russell) Lamborn of Vashon Island, WA, Janice (Richard) Escobedo of Sanger, TX and Sheryl (Walter) Wachter of Colorado Springs, CO, and son Myron (Toye Sue) of Denton, TX; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.
