DONALD KLINGSON

Donald L. Klingson, 90, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge, where military rites will be presented by the US Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donald L. Klingson was born May 12, 1929, to Louis and Thora (Johnson) Klingson in Slifer, Iowa. He attended schools in Somers. Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Betty Knutson on September 30, 1949. Together they had three daughters, Sheri (Jerry) Harper, RoseMarie (Ron) Karstens and LuAnn Klingson. Betty Klingson passed away December 12, 1992. Donald then married Vivian Hanson on December 31, 1993. Vivian brought her seven children into the marriage and together they shared 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by his brother, Alfred Klingson, of Callendar.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, LuAnn; great-grandsons, Matthew Harper and Noah Trampel; sisters, Alice Slotten, LaVonne Bowers, Doris Danielson; brother, LaVerne Klingson; stepson, Craig Hanson and his daughter, Megan Vance.

Donald worked 24 years for the City of Fort Dodge in the street department. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and Fulton Lutheran Church in Roelyn. He was a member of the VFW Post 1856 and the Ashlar Masonic Lodge.
