CAROL MURPHY

Carol Murphy, 72, of Fort Dodge, died August 22, 2019 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Interment will be held in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday with a vigil and rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Carol Marie Grunwald, the daughter of Rudolph and Marie (Carroll) Grunwald, was born March 21, 1947 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1965, Iowa Central and attended UNI. On August 2, 1986 she married William Murphy. Carol was employed for the State of Iowa for 27 years, working for Job Service, DHS and retiring from the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility in 2003.

Carol loved music, she played the violin and saxophone and had a beautiful voice. In the early 80’s, she was the director of the Sweet Adelines, and the assistant director for many years. Carol was a member of the “Just for Fun” band. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, loved her kitties and her diet Pepsi. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband William “Bill” Murphy; her daughter Landra Carroll; her sister Paulette Harris; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Marie Carroll.

Memorials maybe left to the discretion of the family.
