DONALD LAUVER

LAKE CITY — Donald Lauver, 86, died Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Lake City Union Church in Lake City with Pastor Randy Russom officiating and burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Donald Dean Lauver was born on October 7, 1932, in Lake City, Iowa, to Glen and Viola (Gordon) Lauver. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1950 and then served in the U.S. Army as part of the Korean Conflict; 16 months of which were with the German Occupation Forces in Weisbaden, Germany working on lightweight infantry weapons. On November 15, 1957, Don married Marilyn Paschke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Don worked as a farmer all his life and was a member of National Farmers Organization, Lake City American Legion Post #31, Golden Buckle Car Club, and he was also an elder and trustee at the Lake City Union Church as well as past Christian Education Director and Sunday school teacher. Don enjoyed collecting Studebaker vehicles and loved attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Donald is survived by his wife Marilyn of Lake City; sons Kevin (Linda) of Ames, and Alan of Indianola; grandchildren Andrew Lauver (Fiance Mary Francque) of Ackley, Jacob Lauver (friend Caitlyn Gottschalk) of Rockwell City, Courtney Lauver of West Des Moines and Christian Lauver of Indianola; great-granddaughter Serenity Ruiz-Perez of West Des Moines; and sister-in-law Caryl Lauver of Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gordon Lauver.

Memorials may be left for the Lake City Library or the Lake City Union Church.
