MARGERY MCCARTEN

Margery McCarten, 94, of Fort Dodge passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Simpson Health Center in Fort Dodge.

Memor­ial service will be held 1:30 p.m. today, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Tompkins Celebration Center of Friendship Haven. Private interment will be held in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.

Surviving are her three children; Karen (Jack) Bradley of Fort Dodge, Michael (Jan) McCarten of Innsbrook, MO and Katherine “Kip” McCarten of Aurora, CO; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her brother Robert Welp of FL. Margery was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her brother W. Ambrose Welp.

Margery Ann Welp, the daughter of Walter and Mabel (Saunders) Welp, was born on September 9, 1924. Margery graduated from Corpus Christi Academy and Iowa State College. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Margery worked as a stewardess for United Airlines from 1946 – 1950. On January 18, 1950, Margery was united in marriage to Bill McCarten in Denver, CO. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Margery was a member of Corpus Christi Church since 1952. She enjoyed reading, needle point, playing piano, bingo, golf and watching Wheel of Fortune.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice.
