RICHARD DUDLEY WHITE

RICHARD DUDLEY WHITE

Today, February 28, on what would have been his fifty-ninth birthday, his family remembers Richard Dudley White, 58, formerly of Fort Dodge. Richard died suddenly of a heart attack on July 21, 2018, at his neighborhood recreation center in Norfolk, VA. Richard was a genius, a raconteur, a beloved Latin teacher, a coach at Norfolk Collegiate School, and the essence of kindness. Richard graduated from St. Edmond High School and Iowa State, but never truly left Fort Dodge or the people he cared about in Iowa.

Immediate survivors are Mary Anna Newton White, whom he wed in Durham, NC, on June 13, 1992, and Francis “Frankie” Hanrahan White.

Richard is also survived by these former Fort Dodgers: his siblings Regina (Jack Hayes) White of Falls Church, VA, Thomas of Norfolk, and Victoria (Stan Fitterman) White of Tampa, FL, his uncles James L. Hanrahan of Arlington Heights, IL, and John D. (Debby) Hanrahan of Washington, DC, and generations of family and friends. Mary Virginia Hanrahan White, Richard’s mother, died in 1980. Family friend Mary Alice Coleman survives him in Fort Dodge.
