EVAN J. GEORG TEMPLE

Evan J was born to Harry and Gladys Temple in Rockwell City, Iowa, on February 20, 1933. Evan was baptized into Christ March 12, 1933, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rockwell City, Iowa. He was confirmed March 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa. His faith in Christ was nurtured with the Word of God and Holy Sacrament through the years in the churches he served and attended.

Evan and Patricia Knudson were married June 21, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa. The marriage was blessed with two children, Deborah (Glenn) Amick of Sunnyvale, California, and Mark (Sandra) Temple of Mesa, Arizona. There are six grandchildren: Timothy, Matthew, Paul Amick; Tracy, Felicia, Sean Temple and granddaughter Aurora Christen.

Evan served our Lord for 40+ years as pastor of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in parishes in Willits, Richmond and Fair Oaks, California. He served on Synod’s national staff in St. Louis as Family Life Director, and on the staff of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota during the1970’s. He retired from the active ministry in 1998. Later he served as vacancy pastor to two congregations.

The gift of faith in Christ kept Evan’s love for Christ, His Word and His Church alive and vibrant all the years of his life. Christ’s promise to grant the crown of life to all who are faithful to Him has now come true for Evan. Evan J Temple was received into the Church Triumphant on January 25, 2019.
