LEHIGH — LeRoy F. Schwen­demann, 91, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family, Dec­ember 1, 2018, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, after a short illness. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th at the Gunderson Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held on December 7th at 1:30 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside, with Pastor Julian Swanson officiating. Internment will be at Fort Dodge Memorial Park.

LeRoy Francis, son of Francis and Mildred Schwendemann, was born in 1927 in Duncombe. He received his education at Duncombe Schools, and graduated from high school in 1945. He attended college in Minneapolis and came home to farm in the Duncombe area in 1947.

On July 6, 1952, he married Clarene Johnson at the Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe. The couple resided and farmed near Duncombe until 1964, then moved to the Busy Bee Schwendemann Farm near Burnside. They continued to farm until 1993 when he retired, but continued to help on the farm for several years. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside and served on the Church Council. He attended Bible Study at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Callender. He operated Schwendemann Insurance Agency for 45 yrs and served on the IMT Insurance board, and the Consolidated Coop board.

LeRoy is survived by his children, daughters Joan (Rick) Rosenquist, Lakeshore, MN, Renae (Kevin) Schlachter, Webster City, son, Gary (Lisa) Schwendemann, Otho, and daughter, Kay (Todd) Lundgren, of Lehigh, long time friend Joanne Pliner of Callender, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Clarene, brother Don, sisters Kathleen Horn, and Marianne Fuhrmeister. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

LeRoy never met a person he wouldn’t visit with.
