JOANN SORENSEN

JoAnn Sorensen, 88, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Unity Point — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A service honoring Jo­Ann’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Shawn Roberts officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

JoAnn is survived by her children, Marge (Mike) Cooper, Twin Lakes; Mark (Tracy) Sorensen, Des Moines; and Alan (Nicki) Sorensen, Ankeny; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Shirley Waddell, Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her husband Royal ‘Cap’ Sorensen, her parents, and her siblings Richard Waddell, Helen Waldrop and Ruth Kitley.

JoAnn Waddell, the daughter of Conro and Hazel (Smith) Waddell, was born May 18, 1930, in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1948. In 1953, JoAnn was united in marriage to Royal in Fort Dodge. JoAnn was a homemaker and an 80-year member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She was an avid card player who belonged to several card clubs.

JoAnn considered the staff and residents of Fort Dodge Villa Care along with the ‘infusion girls’ at Unity Point, as a treasured part of her family.
