REX RODENBORN

OMAHA, NE — Rexford Reed Rodenborn, 27, of Omaha, NE, passed away on Wednes­day, June 6, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Mon­day, June 11, 2018 at Corpus Christi Church with Monsignor Kevin McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Rex was born in Fort Dodge on November 12, 1990 to Jim and Ann (Oppedahl) Rodenborn. He grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 2009. He went on to attend college at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, majoring in chemistry before entering graduate school studying Pharmacy. He received his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Creighton University in 2016 and completed one year of residency at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He worked at Methodist Hospital for seven years, starting as a part-time pharmacy tech and evolving to a staff pharmacist. He was employed as a pharmacist at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha at the time of his death.

Rex participated in Tae Kwan Do in Middle School as a brown belt. In high school, he competed in cross country and wrestling and qualified twice for State Cross Country. As a senior, he finished 26th in State Cross Country. Rex enjoyed comedy, music, movies, Mountain Dew, Pabst, the Denver Broncos and most of all, the Chicago Cubs, culminating with attendance at the 2016 World Series. He was fun-loving and God blessed him with high intelligence and a near photographic memory.

Rex is survived by his parents Jim and Ann Rodenborn of Twin Lakes, IA; his sister Roxanne (Taiki) Esheim of Chicago, IL; his brother Ryan Rodenborn of Twin Lakes, IA and his aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice in Fort Dodge.
