OREN CHAVEZ SR.

A gathering of family and friends honoring the life of Oren will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Oren Earl Chavez, the son of Joe and Mary (Craven) Chavez was born July 19, 1940 in Fort Dodge and he attended the Fort Dodge Schools. Oren was an over the road semi-truck driver for many years. He was known by his CB handle as “Hawkeye”. Oren later worked for Mid-Continent Lumber Dealers Supply in Fort Dodge for many years and later worked at Menards for a few years before he retired.

He is survived by his 8 children, Tonja Chavez of Colorado, Trina (Arnie) Hernandez of Colorado, Oren (Wendy) Chavez Jr. of Oklahoma, Toni (Joe) Howard of Colorado, Lanyon Chavez of CO, Shane (Margaret) Chavez of Colorado, Dennis Grunwald of Colorado, and Rocky Dimaio of Des Moines, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 of his siblings, Judy Wilson of Wisconsin, Roxi Peterson of Barnum, Iowa, Butch (Charlene) Chavez of Oregon, and Olivia (Gary) Clabaugh of Fort Dodge. Oren is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Leatrice Henry and a brother, Oliver Chavez.
